HI, my name is Merel, I am 23 years old
and I signed myself spontaneously in for a filmproject.
A year ago I lived in a shelter for homeless youth, now a year later I chase my biggest dreams. Something I think is absolutely amazing and terrifying at the same time. it is something, people may see as nothing special, but for me it are those tiny victories full of fragile opportunities that bring joy to my life.
People always have some kind of judgement about homelessness,
well, there's no truth in your mind.
I am going to prove you wrong ;)
Most children that live in a shelter wear invisible life backpacks, because the darkest days of their life's kept coming and the darkest nights for their souls never stopped. thinking they are unseen, unloved and unwanted.
I also hope that this will inspire others! Not only homeless youth but everyone who's in a dark place at this moment,
in this life.
Everyone deserves empowerment!
Because we are all in this world together, connected but still so alone and struggeling to find a voice!
You are here! That means YOU survived! And that your dreams are worth fighting for!
So when I gained my strenght to step inside this tornado of adventures,
I knew the time was now! And in only two weeks time I did things I previously would never dare to do, and build a partially complete team with youth I met at the shelter and people which I have never met yet. I believe we can create something amazing with those passionate souls!
At this moment I really would love to give those lovely people what they deserve but I can only offer them three things in return; Wisdom, kindness and a story.
But beside the team, making a short film costs a lot of money,
clothing, equipment, Locations and a place to stay in the week of the project . I am working hard to find all these things, but it is almost impossible and the clock is ticking..
So this is my last hope to get some money together!t To tell a good version of this story on screen
full of vulnerability, positivity, inside the journey of a young girl that turned scars into stars and shelters into houses.
A message to inspire and empower others, to be kind and compassionate with themselves, others and to dream big.To say do not give up on yourself! Every step, big or small makes a huge difference!
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
With a grateful heart,
