Dr. Nader Shah Nangarhari was 11 years old when the war broke out in Afghanistan. He remembers that he felt heartbroken when his school was bombed during the war.
'It was the first time I was exposed to death. I saw bodies of my classmates laying around me. Many people died that day.'
After 36 years of war, Afghans are still suffering from the war. The media often speaks about the war in Afghanistan in relation to terrorism. But not about the Afghan people, as if they do not exist.
He wants to draw attention to the situation in Afhanistan and especially to the dehumanization of Afghan civillians. By cycling around the world, he wants to give Afghans a voice.
Afghan people want peace and we are tired of war, he said. I hope the people I meet will see that.
After cycling along large groups of refugees in Turkey, Hungaria, Bulgaria and Serbia. He decided he is not only delivering a message of peace for the people of Afghanistan. But for all people who are affected by war.
Please help Dr. Nader Shah continue his journey and deliver his message of peace to the headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
